Mykonos is blessed with over 30 beaches, each with its own personality. Whether you are after a sun lounger and cocktail service or a quiet cove to swim in peace, the island delivers. Here is our guide to the beaches worth knowing — and a few that most visitors never find.
Psarou — The Glamour Beach
Psarou is consistently ranked among the most beautiful beaches in the Aegean. Sheltered by a gentle bay, its calm waters and fine sand attract a well-heeled crowd. The beach club here is legendary — expect champagne service, pristine white parasols, and the occasional superyacht anchored just offshore. Book a sunbed in advance; they sell out by 10am in July and August.
Ornos — Best for Families
Just a few minutes from Mykonos Town, Ornos is the island’s most family-friendly beach. The water is shallow and calm, making it ideal for children. The bay is lined with tavernas serving fresh fish and cold Mythos, and water taxis connect Ornos to other nearby beaches throughout the day.
Super Paradise — The Party Beach
If you want to experience Mykonos at its most electric, Super Paradise is the place. The beach club here has been running famous parties since the 1970s, and the tradition continues. Music starts early afternoon and continues well into the evening. The beach itself is beautiful — a wide arc of golden sand framed by dramatic rocky headlands.
Agios Sostis — The Hidden Gem
No sunbeds, no beach clubs, no umbrellas for hire. Agios Sostis in the north of the island is the antidote to everything else on this list. A dirt track leads down to a wild, windswept bay beloved by locals. Bring your own water, a good book, and expect nothing but the sound of waves.
Elia — The Longest Beach
Elia is Mykonos’ longest stretch of sand, around 500 metres of fine golden beach. It has the full beach club experience but its size means it never feels as crowded as Psarou. The snorkelling in the rocky northern end of the bay is excellent.
