A private villa holiday in Mykonos is a different experience from staying in a hotel. The privacy, the space, the freedom to set your own rhythm — once you have done it, it is difficult to go back. Here is how to plan yours properly.
Choosing the Right Villa
The first question is size. Are you travelling as a couple, a family, or a large group? A two-bedroom villa offers intimacy and seclusion; a 12-bedroom estate allows a group to holiday together without compromising on privacy. At Prima Donna, we offer configurations for both — from Villa Catherine’s elegant two-bedroom pavilion to the full 17-bedroom estate.
Location matters enormously. Hillside villas with sea views catch the breeze — essential in peak summer — and offer the most dramatic sunsets. We recommend prioritising views and privacy; the beaches are always a short drive away.
When to Go
Peak season runs from late June to early September. For a more relaxed experience with warm weather, consider late May, early June, or September into October. The sea is warm, the restaurants have availability, and the island shows a quieter, more authentic side.
What to Arrange in Advance
Private chefs, yacht charters, restaurant reservations, and airport transfers should all be arranged before you arrive. Our team handles all of this for Prima Donna guests — one enquiry covers everything. Car hire is worth arranging early too; a small 4×4 gives you freedom to explore the island’s wilder north.
Building Your Itinerary
A typical day at Prima Donna begins with breakfast on the terrace, followed by the beach or a morning in the pool. Afternoons are for exploration — a drive to Agios Sostis, a wander through Chora, a visit to the windmills. Evenings are for long meals and great wine.
